Home Selling Tips

There’s lots of preparation that goes into selling a home. The main things that need to be taken care of in order to get your home ready for pictures and for showings are cleaning, decluttering and depersonalizing. I always say it’s never too early to get started on the home buying or selling process. It’s best not to wait until the last minute to get those necessary things done, especially if your home will require a lot of preparation.

Step 1: Clean your home as much as you can - a dirty space can make your home unappealing to potential buyers.

Step 2: Declutter your space as much as possible - a cluttered or “busy” home can make it difficult for a potential buyer to picture themselves and their own furniture in your home. Having it organized and tidy can make a huge difference.

Step 3: Depersonalize your space if you can - potential buyers can be easily distracted by pictures of your family and pets. Also, depersonalizing can mean neutralizing the space - not every buyer loves brightly colored decorations or big, gaudy centerpieces, and storing those away can really help. While your style is all your own and there’s nothing wrong with liking what you like, keep in mind a neutral space helps buyers picture themselves in the home a lot easier.
